Negra Bernhard was born on January 11, 1986, in Banja Luka, Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 1992, she migrated to Austria with her family, settling in Vienna, where she currently resides and works.

Between 2017 and 2022, Bernhard pursued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under the mentorship of Prof. Daniel Richter, ultimately earning her diploma with distinction.
